Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club members put in a spirited display against tough competition at the Essex Age Group Championships.

The county-wide championships were held across two weekends at the Basildon Sporting Village and saw swimmers from across Essex compete in a variety of races.

Josh Parker (14) won gold in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, and the 100m Butterfly. Parker broke county and club records to become the Boys' 14-year-old Essex County Champion in all four races.

He was Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club’s most-awarded competitor; Parker also medalled in the 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, and the 200m Individual Medley.

Other notable medal winners include Mia Macklin (15), who won silver and bronze in the Girls 100m and 200m Butterfly respectively, and the Girls 9/10 Relay Team, which won bronze in the Medley Relay.

Overall, BBSC had a total of 21 finalists across the two-weekend-long event.

The individual finalists were: Marcie Aley, Kathryn Edwards, Morgan Foster, Holly Heighes, Mia Macklin, Annabel Morden, Albert Orley, Josh Parker, Finley Petts, Esme Reeve, Isabelle Talbot and Holly Underdown.

The finalists from the Girls 9/10 Relay Team were: Amalie Long, Caofie Long, Ezenay Long, Maisie Cooper, and Layla Cook.
