Essex Championships Weekend One Report
Saturday 17th January saw the beginning of The Essex County Championships where Braintree & Bocking Swimming Club made a fabulous start to the first weekend.
Highlight of the events came in the form of Ole M, competing for Braintree after a 4 year absence with Chelmsford, when he became County Champion in both the 100m and 200m Individual Medley events as well as making two other top eight finals all with P.B. times. Dylan N also made the 50m Free final with a creditable 26.02 P.B. The most improved swimmer during 2014 was Charles R who swam magnificently to take 2nd in the 50m back, 5th in the 100m Individual Medley and 5th in the 200m Breaststroke all in P.B. times. Finlay R also made the final of the 50m Backstroke in the same age group. They then teamed up with Harry M and Ben S to break the 2 minute barrier when being placed 7th in the 200M Freestyle relay final. Lee P still defies the age groups with a fantastic 3rd place in the 50m Backstroke and a top six finish in the 100m Individual Medley. Jodie M made her first County final with a 40.31 heat in the 50m Breaststroke but just tailed off in the final to record 41.30.
