National Success for Ole
BBSC swimmer Ole Mills competed at the British and English Summer National Championships in Sheffield at the end of July. Only the top 32 swimmers in the rankings from each event are invited to swim at Nationals, it is the elite of Age Group swimming in Britain. Ole swam the 100m and 200m Breaststroke at British Nationals and the 400m IM at English Nationals. In all three events, he was agonisingly close to reaching the final, just missing the top 10 by less than a second in all three events. He set new PB's in the 100m Breaststroke and 400m IM on his way to 16th in the 100m Breaststroke (1:09.64), 12th place in the 200m Breaststroke (2:31.90) and 12th place in the 400m IM (4:52.49).
These are fantatsic achievements, congratulations Ole!
M11 League Victory
Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club ended the London Junior Swimming League on a high as they hosted and won the final gala of the season to take the overall trophy.
The team went into the final level on points with Luton and their young swimmers did not disappoint as they finished first on the night and were awarded the trophy in front of a very supportive audience.
The victory was dedicated to the outgoing organisers, Roger and Janet Watkins, who have done so much for this league over the years.
Charles Finals at Regionals
Charles Rennie reached two finals in his first Regional Championships. He finished fifth in the 50m Breaststroke and 8th in the 100m Breaststroke, both in Long Course Best Times. He narrowly missed finals in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke by just tenths of a second. Charles also competed in the 50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Backstroke and 200m IM in a busy weekend of swimming at the UEA Norwich Pool.
Junior League Round Two Report
On 17th May, BBSC took part in the second round of the National Junior Swimming League. Having finished second in the first round, the coaches held high hopes of improving on that performance. In a near faultless performance, BBSC ran out comfortable winners and are in first place in the League going into the final round.
