Lee Peterson recently travelled to Sheffield to compete in the Swim England National Masters Championships. The championships are the biggest short course competition in the domestic Masters calendar. It attracts competitors from all regions of Great Britain and competition is extremely fierce. Lee was competing in the 45-49 age group. At the end of the three-day competition, Lee walked away with five gold medals (100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 100m IM, 200m Freestyle) and two silvers (200m IM and the 50m Breaststroke). All seven swims were East Region Masters records.
2019 has been a rewarding year for Lee, which has included gold medals in the 100m Breaststroke at both the Summer and Winter Essex County Championships. On reflecting on his achievements, Lee jokingly replied “I’m not getting older, I’m just becoming a classic.”
Head coach Erica said, “Lee strives to always do better than the swim before and his hard work and dedication to swimming is still paying off. “
